New Delhi:

The Supreme Court has asked the petitioners seeking a complete ban on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in India over the controversial documentary based on the 2002 Gujarat riots, to mention their petition again for expedited listing.

A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud asked the counsel for the petitioner to mention the matter on Friday.

The apex court was hearing a petition filed by Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta and farmer Birendra Kumar Singh, seeking an inquiry against the BBC and its personnel.

The petitioners have alleged in their petition that the BBC has been discriminatory against the Government of India and that the documentary on Narendra Modi is the result of a deep-rooted conspiracy against the growing global stature of India and its Prime Minister.

On January 30, the apex court had said that it would hear next Monday the petitions challenging the Centre's decision to ban the controversial documentary.
