Only a few days has passed the pitcher Jonathan Carbó from Pinero with Carlos Martí's Agricultores and he already feels part of the team.

“I feel good, despite the short time that I have been incorporated.

We are a united and combative group.

I think we will do our best every day.

This is how this team did throughout the Elite League and that is why today it is here in the Caribbean Series, in Venezuela.

“I am grateful for the opportunity that Carlos Martí and his work group gave me to join Agricultores

after being eliminated Tabacaleros, with whom I played in the Elite.

He had never been a reinforcement for Las Tunas or Granma, but I know several players from the years that I have played in the National Series, ”says the right-handed pitcher.

Carbó was recently in the preselection for the World Classic.

"I didn't do Cuba, but thank God I was given the chance to be here in the Caribbean Series,"

he comments in the

lobby

of the Marriot Bonvoy hotel, where Agricultores is staying, in the Venezuelan state of La Guaira.

Selected by the director from Granma among the only five reinforcements to consolidate the champion team of the First Elite League of Cuban Baseball, Carbó receives the confidence of the experienced manager early and this Friday he will open the second game of Cuba in the Caribbean Series, against the Tigres del Licey (Dominican Republic).

"It's a good team.

It has excellent players and a lot of history, but we are inspired.

This Thursday we could not see the game of the Dominican Republic

, because we were on the field, but tomorrow, the pitching coach and I will draw up a strategy with which we will seek the victory”.

The 25-year-old pitcher from Pinar del Río, whose fastball is around 90 miles, assures that the most important thing in a ball game is for the starter to advance in the game and fulfill his role.

“That function will touch me in this championship, which is very short.

For this reason, in each of the outings I will seek to contribute to the team and finish the ball game, something fundamental for a starter.

“Today we had an excellent start and we are not going to let up.

On the contrary, we will continue with the same strength and enthusiasm on the ground.

“Tomorrow we will go out to give everything.

I feel physically and mentally prepared.

These days I have worked on the

strike zone

, to perfect my control, with a lot of concentration and discipline.

The result will have to come out”.

This Friday, Agricultores de Cuba will face Tigres del Licey at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium, formerly Fórum de la Guaira.

The Dominicans fell this Thursday 5-4 against Cañeros de los Mochis, but they are still favorites due to their rich history in the Caribbean Series, with 10 titles.
