The last meeting between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Lieutenant Governor was held on 13 January.

New Delhi:

The scheduled weekly meeting between Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal did not take place on Friday amid the impasse over governance issues.

Sources in the Lieutenant Governor's office said that Kejriwal did not come to the 'Raj Niwas' for the meeting which was to be held at 4 pm and no reason was given by his office in this regard.

An official in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) confirmed that the meeting did not take place.

He did not give any reason in this regard.

Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and the Lieutenant Governor are at loggerheads over a proposal to send government school teachers to Finland for a training program and several other issues.

The last meeting between the Chief Minister and the Lieutenant Governor was held on 13 January.

Explain that the root cause of the conflict between the Lieutenant Governor and the Delhi Government has been Article-239 AA of the Constitution.

It has been said that in case of differences, the decision of the Lieutenant Governor will be final.

The Delhi government can take any decision on other subjects except public order, police and land, but this decision can also be taken by the Delhi government only under the laws passed by the Parliament.

According to this article, the executive head of the Union Territory of Delhi is not the Chief Minister, but this right is with the Lieutenant Governor.
