Military expert Roman Svitan believes that the Armed Forces now, first of all, need artillery and ammunition, because Russian troops suffer 80-90% of losses precisely as a result of artillery fire.

Svitan told about this in an interview with journalist Dmytro Gordon.

The military expert answered the question about what Western weapons Ukraine needs now in order to win victory as soon as possible.

He said it was artillery.

"Even though I'm a pilot and I have to start with aviation, I'll still start with a real combined-arms battle: artillery.

. 80-90% of enemy losses are from artillery fire. Therefore, any arta, preferably high-precision, and a lot of ammunition," Svitan stressed.

He noted that for every projectile fired by the Armed Forces in the direction of the enemy at the front, there are five to seven Russian projectiles in response.

In addition to increasing the number of artillery, appropriate training of personnel to work with these weapons is also necessary.

The military expert also said that Ukraine needs armored vehicles second only to artillery and ammunition.

. Armor is important for what? To perform offensive tasks without armor is to put a lot of people... In order to protect a trained professional, you need armor," Svitan explained.

The expert noted that a multifunctional fighter is needed.

"Aviation is needed mainly for offensive. In defense - more or less. It will not work against the enemy, because anti-aircraft defense will cope well. But against, say, missiles, aviation is also needed. Both for ground offensive and for interception missions. That is ,

that could carry aerial bombs, could carry air-to-ground missiles for ground operations, and could carry missiles to intercept enemy missiles," Svitan explained. 

We will remind, the day before, military expert Oleg Zhdanov said that today Russian artillery is two to three times superior to Ukrainian artillery.

Parity with the enemy in these weapons of the Armed Forces can be until the middle of the summer of 2023, that the Western partners will supply ammunition at the current pace and volume.

As for Western tanks, the Leopard and Challenger can go to the front already by the summer, Ukrainian military attaché in the United States Borys Kremenetskyi said.

At the same time, the arrival of Abrams tanks on the battlefield will take more time.

As for aviation, in the second half of 2023, we can hope for the delivery of the first Western-style fighter jets to Ukraine, if we start pilot training now.
