The alleged Chinese spy balloon was flying over America for two days.

China said on Friday that an 'airship' flying over the United States was actually for meteorological and other scientific purposes.

Along with this, China expressed regret for the airship straying into American airspace.

US officials said on Thursday that a Chinese spy balloon has been flying over the United States for a few days.

It is a shame that this incident happened just days before US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's planned visit to Beijing.

After this, the Foreign Ministry of China issued a statement late on Friday night. 

According to the report of the news agency Reuters, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the balloon which America had called a spy was actually a "civilian airship".

It was mostly used for meteorological purposes.

China said it would continue to maintain contact with the United States to properly handle the unforeseen situation.

China's Foreign Ministry further said, "The airship belongs to China. It is used for meteorological and other scientific research. Due to the influence of westerly winds and its limited controllability, this airship may have deviated from its direction."

The statement further said, "China regrets that due to force majeure, the airship accidentally strayed into the US. China will continue to maintain communication with the US side."

Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder told reporters here on Thursday, "The US government has detected a spy balloon and is tracking it."

It is still flying in US airspace.

NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) is keeping a close watch on it.

Pat Ryder said the balloon was seen in Montana on Thursday and is said to be "the size of three buses".

Pat Ryder said, "As soon as the balloon became known, the US government took immediate action to protect sensitive information." He said that the balloon was high above commercial airspace and did not pose any danger to people on the ground. Not there.

A senior defense official said that US President Joe Biden has been informed about the incident.

The Pentagon is looking at all options to deal with it.
