Nayden Todorov graduated with honors from the music school "Dobrin Petkov" in Plovdiv and sat in the chair of the sculptor Prof. Velislav Minekov - three times so far acting minister of culture: "This third term passed under great tension, it was not like the other two. Our path represented a minefield".

Already on Tuesday, when asked if he will be a minister again, Minekov gave an indication that this will probably be his last: "To tell you the truth, I am hesitant. The tension was huge. It was not pleasant. There was more room for scandals here. .."

Scandals in the Ministry of Culture were plentiful.

The biggest of them erupted in the fall at the National Theater, when the director Alexander Morfov scratched the door of publicist Velislava Krastev in protest that she was close to Ahmed Dogan in the last elections, despite her new job.

Minekov sided with Morfov, and a significant part of the artists personally met with President Rumen Radev, defending their director Vasil Vasilev in this conflict.

The DPS still today rejects this as a reason for the sculptor to leave - Yordan Tsonev: "It has nothing to do with the scandal. I don't think Minekov has done anything useful".

The new minister often explains why, despite his international career, he chooses to work in Bulgaria: "Bulgarians, in principle, when they have the opportunity to stay in Bulgaria or go abroad, go abroad. However, a person who lives abroad sees things differently For him, things are not about Bulgaria or abroad, but every single country is on an equal footing," laments Todorov.

"When someone sets out to do something in Bulgaria, there are many people who, even if they have no interest in it, try to prevent it," he adds.
