The normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations is a matter of deep importance for the US Secretary of State.

APA reports that Vedant Patel, deputy press secretary of the US State Department, said this at a briefing.

He said that the US State Department is closely dealing with this issue.

"In particular, Secretary Blinken, as you know, had the opportunity to talk with the leaders of both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Thus, this is an issue that we will continue to actively deal with," the State Department official said.

He also spoke about the appointment of the new chief adviser of the US for the Caucasus negotiations: "Louis Bono leads the US participation in promoting peace and stability in the Caucasus.

It also carries on the role of its predecessors, which, as I've already mentioned, is a continuing priority for the Biden administration.

And Luis Bono is a senior Department official with significant experience working on difficult and complex issues.

He has the personal confidence of Secretary Blinken and the State Department as he assumes this new role."
