Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stated that

Russia may try to launch a new offensive against Ukraine around February 24

.

He called on NATO countries to provide Ukraine with more weapons.

"We cannot lose the initiative... We think that, given that they live by symbolism, they can try something around February 24,"

Reznikov said in an interview with the French channel BFMTV.

The Minister of Defense suggested that the direction of the new offensive may be the

south and the east

.

Reznikov noted that Ukraine does not underestimate its enemy, as

Russia may have mobilized about half a million citizens

.

"They officially declared 300,000, but when

we see troops on the borders

, according to our estimates, it is much more... We tell our partners that we must also be ready as soon as possible. That is why we

need weapons to deter the enemy

, because everything is war is decided by initiative," he said.

Reznikov also emphasized the need to quickly equip Ukraine with "aircraft" and called for Ukrainian pilots to start training on planes that will probably be supplied by allied countries.

We will remind that the analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War

consider the Russian offensive to be inevitable

.

Probably, the enemy is preparing to activate in the east of Ukraine, in particular in the Luhansk region.

This may happen in the coming months.
