Migrant crisis 919

Radev stated this in response to a journalist's question whether our country receives support from the European Commission to strengthen our land border with Turkey.

He explained that Bulgaria receives support from FRONTEX in terms of presence and technical equipment for monitoring and protecting the border.

We have already sent Bulgaria's views and the necessary financial estimates to the European Commission, so that the protection of the Bulgarian border can be significantly improved.

We propose to build a solid fence that will reduce to a minimum the possibility of illegal entry into the territory of the EU, said Radev and added that at the moment this approach is not accepted by the EC.

Von der Leyen: The EU can provide infrastructure and surveillance equipment for the Bulgarian-Turkish border

According to him, it is good that there is a readiness to help in various technical means for monitoring and protecting the border, but they should not go together with a change in the approach and the European policy regarding illegal migration.

Because when we have even better technical means of surveillance and security that will register penetration inside the territory of the EU, the question remains, once these people penetrate and already to a much greater extent this illegal crossing will be detected at the border, what we do with these people, pointed out Radev.
