The Kyrgyz government officially offered Bishkek the joint use of the underground gas reservoir located in the Sox enclave of Uzbekistan.

APA reports that this was stated by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, in an interview with the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA).

It was noted that the main part of the gas storage is located on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, and the compressors are located on the territory of Uzbekistan, and for this reason, negotiations are underway regarding the joint use of the facility.

The minister noted that the volume of the "Northern Sox" underground gas reservoir is up to 3 billion cubic meters, and the Uzbek side can use up to 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas from it in the winter season.

It should be noted that the "Northern Sox" underground gas reservoir was built in 1976 at the base of the gas field of the same name and was not used for a long time.
