Iran accused Israel of a drone attack on a military plant in the central city of Isfahan and promised to take retaliatory measures, the ISNA news agency reported on February 2.

In a letter to the head of the UN, the representative of Iran in the organization, Amir Saeed Irani, said that the preliminary investigation showed that Israel was responsible for the attack that took place on the evening of January 28.

"Iran maintains its legitimate and inalienable right to defend its national security and respond firmly to any threat or wrongdoing by the Zionist regime (Israel) wherever and whenever it deems necessary," Reuters quoted Irani's letter as saying.

The attack came amid tensions between Iran and the West over Tehran's nuclear activities and its supply of weapons to Russia, including long-range kamikaze drones for strikes against Ukraine.

According to Tehran, the strike did not cause casualties or serious damage.

Israel has long said it is ready to strike Iranian targets if diplomacy fails to halt Tehran's nuclear or missile programs, but has not commented on specific incidents.

According to the Royal United Defense Research Institute (RUSI), near Isfagan is Shahed Aviation Industries, which produces Shahed kamikaze drones, with the help of which Russia, in particular, attacks Ukraine.
