European energy must stand on two main pillars - nuclear energy and renewable energy sources.

The previous policy, which was enforced - everything was green, did not work.

The increase in electricity prices began more than half a year before the war in Ukraine.

They became so because of the stupid decisions of the last 20-30 years, mainly related to the closure of nuclear power plants.

This was stated by the energy expert and former MP from the BSP Yavor Kuyumdzhiev on the air of the program "The Day ON AIR".

He recalled that the EC recognized atomic energy as "neutral, and later as green".

"A fund of 450 billion euros was created to help countries wishing to develop it with grant schemes. This is wonderful, but it is too late," he believes.

Minister Hristov for PAVETS "Chaira": The situation is very serious, we need a strategic solution

According to the guest, Bulgaria has an advantage over other countries, because "Belene NPP has come a long way - the site has been created, the approval procedures have passed, except for one, and the equipment for the nuclear islands of the two units has been delivered to 90%".

"There is not a single completed AP-1000 with all-American technology in the world, there are 4 of them in China. By the time this idea begins to be realized, I hope that the Americans will gain experience in building them, and we will not be a guinea pig on which to they are learning how to make nuclear power plants," he emphasized in relation to Bulgaria's ambitions to work with the system.

Before Bulgaria ON AIR, the guest also commented on the statements of Vladislav Panev from DB that imported electricity would be cheaper than domestically produced electricity.

"I'm tired of commenting on the statements of people who understand absolutely nothing and talk nonsense. The price of electricity in the summer reached 400 euros. If we had "Belene", now we would be like Kuwait in the Balkans," he noted, adding that there is a lack of political will to complete the project.
