Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov paid a business visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands from January 31 to February 1 of this year.

APA reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released information about this.

Within the framework of the visit, on February 1, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov met with Erika Schouten, Deputy Director General for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

During the meeting, Ms. Schouten condemned the act of armed attack committed against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran on January 27 and expressed her condolences to the family of the deceased employee, the government and people of Azerbaijan.

At the same time, E. Schouten stressed the importance of ensuring the security of diplomatic missions.

The deputy minister, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands regarding the incident and drew attention to the importance of strengthening the security of the Azerbaijani embassy in The Hague.

Later, the parties discussed the situation in the region.

Presently, information was given on the situation regarding the Lachin road, and views were exchanged on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and the role of the European Union here.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed that the next round of political consultations planned for this year will be held in Baku in the near future.

On the same day, Elnur Mammadov met with deputy Tunahan Kuzu, a member of the DENK party, member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Dutch House of Representatives, and later with the spokesman of the Committee, as well as with D66 party deputy Shurd Shurdsma.

During the meetings, both MPs expressed their regret for the terrorist act committed against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran and expressed the condolences of the Netherlands regarding the embassy employee who died as a result of the incident.

The Deputy Minister thanked for his condolences.

Elnur Mammadov, also on January 30-31, 2023 at the International Court of Justice for the purpose of determining additional temporary measures in court cases related to the application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Armenia v. Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan v. Armenia) informed about the progress of the open hearings.

At the same time, he informed the other side about the continuation of deliberate placement of mines and explosive traps by the armed forces of Armenia in the civilian areas of Azerbaijan and the current situation on the Lachin road.
