Switzerland, which for 11 months was neutral regarding the re-export of weapons to Ukraine, has now allowed other countries to supply Ukraine with Swiss-made weapons.

This is reported in Bloomberg.

"The war changed the tone of the debate in Switzerland," says Maia Riniker, a member of parliament from the centrist and pro-business FDP party, which introduced the proposal to hand over the tanks.

She added that her government cannot give up neutrality, as well as the transfer of Leopard tanks.

At the same time, Riniker is sure that it is necessary to talk about the possibilities for supporting countries "that uphold the same democratic values as Switzerland."

Therefore, active discussions are currently underway in Switzerland about how this country can help the Armed Forces of Ukraine to get more Leopard tanks.

Despite the fact that the country cannot renounce its neutrality, its politicians have drawn up a plan on how exactly these tanks can "get" into the Armed Forces.

"Sell decommissioned tanks to other European countries: Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which, in turn, will supply their own tanks to Ukraine. The tanks will be sold for a symbolic one franc, but under one condition - that the Swiss Leopard 2 will never be re-exported to Ukraine." , — suggested Maya Riniker.

Her proposal was rejected on first reading last week, but Riniker plans to bring it up for a second vote in the spring.

At the same time, it is still too early to talk about Switzerland's assistance in the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, the source reports.

We should add that after Germany's official statement, several other countries have already announced their intention to transfer Leopard 2 to Ukraine.
