A couple terrified staff at an Israeli airport after abandoning their baby at check-in while trying to board a flight.

The parents abandoned their minor child after refusing to buy him a ticket, the "Jerusalem Post" reports.

The man and woman, who hold Belgian passports, were detained by police in Tel Aviv.

Security cameras captured them entering the airport.

They tried to board a flight from Tel Aviv to Brussels, refused to buy a ticket for their baby and simply dropped it.

The airport staff noticed what happened and contacted the police, who found the parents and took them in for questioning, the Telegraph also writes.

The airline's counter manager told the Jerusalem Post that all staff were shocked: "We have never seen anything like this.

We couldn't believe what we were seeing."
