Lucknow:

Samajwadi Party (SP) Legislative Council member Swami Prasad Maurya, surrounded by controversies over his remarks on Shri Ramcharit Manas, said on Thursday that his campaign against this epic will continue until the 'objectionable' remarks of this epic are not amended or banned.

In a press conference here, Maurya accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of neglecting to make Dalits and backward people feel and respect Hindus for the sake of votes and said that this process should stop.

He said, "Swami Prasad Maurya is not afraid of any number of tricks to cut off the head, cut off the tongue and cut off the nose."

We have raised the issue of respect for the backward and downtrodden.

This campaign will continue until the objectionable remarks of (Shri Ramcharitmanas) are not amended or banned. Is having stomach ache.

We want to end the system of humiliation, so those who consider humiliation as their religion, their stomach is hurting.

I believe in law and constitution.

I have been saying my words in a peaceful manner and will continue to say so in the future as well." Taking a dig at the BJP, Maurya said," Dalits and backward people, when they belong to the same religion, naturally vote for the BJP. They are Hindus to take, but they become strangers when it comes to giving respect.

It means you consider them Hindu only to get votes.

When it comes to respect and self-respect, when it comes to authority, you consider them as enemies.

You insult them in the guise of religion, this should stop.

He said, "Be it a big leader, be it a small leader, be it associated with any party or organization, I request everyone to come forward to give respect to the Shudra community and women who constitute 97 percent of the population of this country."

Till now the tradition of being humiliated in the name of religion should be stopped immediately. Some parts hurt the sentiments of dalits, backward people and women, so it should be banned.

There was a lot of controversy on his statement.

Two cases have also been registered against him in Lucknow.

Leaders of Sant Samaj and BJP are continuously giving statements against him regarding his remarks on Shri Ramcharit Manas.
