Kappan came out of Lucknow District Jail on Thursday morning after 28 months.

A relieved Kappan told PTI shortly after his release, "I am going to Delhi."

According to sources, Kappan spent about two and a half years in jail.

Kappan's wife Rehana told PTI-language, 'It has been months since Kappan got bail in both the cases.

The High Court granted bail in the UAPA case and his innocence came to the fore.

Two and a half years is not a short time.

We have experienced a lot of pain and suffering, but I am glad that belatedly, justice has been served.

When asked how the children are feeling now, Rehana said, "Our children are waiting to welcome him (Kappan).

His happiness was taken away.

We kept waiting for his freedom.

I am very happy

Thanks to all those who are with us.

Kappan and Rehana have two sons Muzammil (19) and Zeedhan (14) and a daughter Mehnaz (9).

However, Kappan's mother Kadija is no longer alive to see her son return home.

He died in June 2021.

Rehana told, 'When he was in jail, his mother had died.

Kadija is no longer there to see Kappan.

Meanwhile, Mohd Dhanish K.S.

Said that Kappan was in jail since October 5, 2020.

He said Kappan was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi for treatment of Covid, and had also gone home to meet his ailing mother.

Kappan and three others were arrested in October 2020.

Then they were all going to Hathras, where a Dalit woman had died allegedly after being raped.

The accused was arrested along with three others – Atiqur Rehman, Alam and Masood – from Mathura in October 2020.

All three are accused of having links with PFI and being part of the conspiracy to incite violence.

Apart from various sections of the Indian Penal Code, a case was registered against Kappan under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Information Technology Act.
