Military expert Oleg Zhdanov confirmed that Russian paratroopers are indeed fighting near Bakhmut, but most of them are not professional soldiers, but mobilized fighters.
Zhdanov told about this in an interview with TSN.ua.
He drew attention to the fact that these are no longer the well-trained Russian paratroopers who tried to capture the airfield in Gostomel in the Kyiv region at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
"They (Ukrainian military - ed.) do meet paratroopers today, but today they are no longer the same paratroopers who tried, let's say, to seize the airfield in Gostomel. It was very difficult to fight with them, they were professional soldiers and trained as an amphibious assault is needed. But today, no. Today, more than half are mobilized," said a military expert.
"By the way, even from the mouths of Russian propagandists, we know that as recently as September of last year, the losses of the landing forces of the Russian Federation reached 50%. That was the case in September," Zhdanov added.
It will be recalled that the American Institute for the Study of War reported that the mercenaries of the "Wagner" PMC did not achieve significant success in Bakhmut after the ZSU withdrew from Soledar.
So now Russian airborne troops are taking part in the battles around the city, which are trying to resume the offensive there.
According to military expert Serhii Grabskyi, the desperate battles waged by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of Bakhmut, in the area of Avdiyivka, Maryinka, Vugledar, near Kreminnaya, are disrupting the plans of the Russian occupiers.
