The Chinese government has accused Washington of seeking "technological superiority" as it ramps up pressure on China's Huawei by blocking its access to American suppliers, the Associated Press reported.

President Biden's administration has stopped renewing the commercial licenses of some American companies that supply key parts to the Chinese technology giant, sources told the agency on condition of anonymity.

Since 2019, Chinese computer networking and smartphone maker Huawei has been on a US Commerce Department list of companies allowed to buy some less technologically advanced parts.

The new restrictions could cut off Huawei's access to computer chips, processors and other technology as major US firms such as Intel and Qualcomm are forced to end their business with the Chinese company, the Associated Press reported.
