The European Commission presented today proposals related to the goals of the energy transition and the achievement of clean production.

The proposals will be discussed by the European Council in the coming days and will be included in a bill in March, explained EC President Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference.

She pointed out that it is proposed that EU countries temporarily reduce taxes and provide aid for several key industries, including batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, heat pumps.

According to her, the EU could immediately contribute 250 billion euros to the development of the clean economy.

Von der Leyen added that the EU aims to sharply reduce bureaucratic obstacles and approval deadlines for projects related to reducing environmental pollution.

She added that the Commission will prepare legislative changes for the extraction and reprocessing of raw materials.

The President of the EC stated that last year the EU resisted Russia's attempt to blackmail with the supply of energy sources.

She cited data showing that the EU has managed to produce more electricity from renewable sources than from gas in recent months.

The current decade will decide whether we will be able to cope with changes in nature, Von der Leyen said.

The important thing is to have predictability and simple rules for companies, she noted.
