Inflation in January in Croatia, contrary to expectations, continued to slow down for the second month in a row, reports the newspaper "Yutarni List". 

On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained the same as in December, while compared to the same month last year they rose by 12.7%, according to the first, extraordinary assessment of the State Statistical Institute, which is aligned with the Eurostat announcement and Croatia's entry into the eurozone.

Annual inflation according to national methodology in December was 13.1 percent, and in November - 13.5 percent, notes the Croatian newspaper.

Looking at the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which is a comparable measure of inflation with European Union countries, Eurostat data for Croatia showed that annual inflation in January was 12.5 percent, after 12.7 percent in December and 13 percent in November, the publication notes.

Observed by special groups, according to the State Statistical Institute, in January food, beverages and tobacco products rose in price by 15.4 percent compared to the same month last year, energy - by 13.8 percent, industrial non-food goods without energy - by 12 .1 percent, and services - by 9.3 percent, writes "Yutarni list".
