Military expert and former adviser to the head of the OP Oleksiy Arestovich believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning a new attack on Ukraine in order to bring the war to a stalemate and start negotiations.

Arestovych told about this in a conversation with Russian journalist Yulia Latynina and wrote on the Web.

"The logic of Putin's offensive, which is being prepared, is clear - to obtain more favorable negotiating positions. The military explained to him what they can and cannot do. Relying on the maximum capabilities of the Russian military,

he wants to bring the war to a stalemate and start negotiations

," the expert explained. .

"We must try to enter into negotiations - it is still a big question whether these negotiations will take place - from the "liberated" Luhansk and captured Donetsk regions. This is the logic," he added.

Arestovych also described the situation on the battlefield.

According to him, the Russians have created two groups that stand in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions.

"These groups

will try to reach Bakhmut and go to the Lyman

. They are gradually building up, they are feeling our weak spots, looking for holes in the front, looking for where to concentrate the main efforts, while keeping the artillery and ammunition scarce," said the ex-adviser of the head of the OP.

He emphasized that the Russian army is not in a healthy state today.

"She began to achieve tactical success by launching an infantry attack with artillery support that had dropped by a third. It gives a certain tactical success - endless waves of infantry. But then there is a sharp, explosive jump in casualties. They have decided to pay this price. They are preparing.

They will increase their efforts the whole of February.

Their peak, according to the plan, I understand, is somewhere in March.

March is a period of intense hostilities

. And somewhere, in April, somewhere, somewhere, they will already start to gain a foothold on the borders," Arestovych predicts.

He added that the

task of the enemy is to take the most advantageous lines in order to reliably stand on the defensive when the Armed Forces of Ukraine go on a counteroffensive, and to call Ukraine to negotiations.

According to a military expert, during the new offensive, Russian troops will focus their efforts on Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

We will remind you that Russia is preparing for a serious escalation, which may begin in two or three weeks.

This was warned by Oleksiy Danilov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, who did not rule out that the Russian Federation may try to attack from the north, south and east.

According to military expert Oleh Zhdanov, Russia will lack the resources to repeat such a large-scale offensive from several directions, as on the day of the full-scale invasion on February 24 last year.
