Wu Chengwen is a Distinguished Chair Professor of National Tsing Hua University, and concurrently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Expert of ITRI. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1981, and then went to the United States for further study through the Ministry of Education's public examination.

In early 1988, he taught in the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University.
