Michael McGinnis, chief of the major crimes unit of the Detroit Police Department, said that in addition to the Detroit police, there are now multiple police agencies participating in the investigation. "If anyone knows the details, please call and report the news."

Kelly's mother, Lorrie Kemp, revealed that after Kelly left home on the day of the performance, she received a voice message telling her she was safe, but at night, her phone kept going to voicemail, and she could no longer reach her son.

After the news of Kelly's disappearance spread, the relatives and friends of the other two singers, Wick and Givens, also became aware of the matter and immediately reported the disappearance to the police.

Kemp also went out to distribute leaflets to find people, still holding hope in his heart, "I don't want to find his body after the deadline of 20 years."
