"We support the expansion of NATO."

APA informs that this was said by the Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijártó.

He said that his country's position regarding the NATO membership of Sweden and Finland is very clear:

"In February, the Hungarian parliament will meet and the agenda will include the ratification of Sweden and Finland's membership in NATO.

He reminded that Turkey's position on this issue belongs to itself.

He also commented on the burning of the Koran in Sweden.

"As a Christian person, burning the holy book of another religion is unacceptable behavior.

Burning the sacred book of another religion is unacceptable for a country that wants to become a member of NATO.

Because this country wants Turkey's support.

I'm not a member of the Swedish government, I'm just saying as an observer that more respect should be shown in all international politics," he said.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlud Çavuşoğlu also noted that Turkey supports the expansion of NATO.

The minister said that Turkey is the country that contributes the most to the unity and security of NATO.

"We understand the security concerns of Finland and Sweden.

But while the security concerns of those two countries are being addressed, it is unacceptable that Turkey, a member of NATO, does not meet their concerns in the same direction.

This concern is the fight against terrorism," he said.
