This year, Kyiv will continue the construction of a pedestrian bridge from the Obolonskaya Embankment to the Obolonsky Island, which it will carry out from 2020 at the expense of philanthropic funds.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko announced this on his Telegram channel.

"This year, the capital will continue the construction of the pedestrian bridge from the Obolonskaya embankment to the Obolonskyi Island, which it has been carrying out since 2020 at the expense of philanthropic funds. We do not attract money from the city budget. Kyiv received funds for the continuation of construction from the Metropolis of Greater Paris. These are targeted funds that foreign partners allocated us this very object for construction," said the mayor of Kyiv.

At the beginning of 2023, three piers of the bridge have already been installed and the installation of the fourth has begun, as well as materials have been purchased.

This year, with the funds provided by the Metropolis of Greater Paris, the installation of the fourth pier of the bridge will be completed, auxiliary and partially supporting structures will be purchased and installed, and metal structures will be purchased.

We will remind, according to the project, the bridge structure will rest on four supports, two of which are located in the channel.

The pedestrian facility will be 4 meters wide and 164 meters long.

The bridge will have an interesting architectural appearance and will be comfortable for people with reduced mobility.

Bridges will not hinder the passage of small vessels to Obolon Bay.

Arranges the city and the territory of the island of Obolonsky, which is part of the regional landscape park "Dnieper Islands".

"We plan to turn Obolonsky Island into a modern recreation area for Kyivans with the preservation of flora and fauna," Klitschko noted.

It will be recalled that the "glass bridge" was opened in Kyiv on December 17 after repairs due to an enemy attack.

The bridge was damaged by a rocket attack on October 10.
