The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, said that he spoke with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

In addition to the fact that the head of state informed the prime minister about the situation on the battlefield - about the constant assaults in Donetsk region, about the situation in the south and existing threats, he separately touched on the issue of sanctions and international isolation of Russia, in particular in the sports arena.

The president said this during his address to Ukrainians on January 31.

"In particular, I thank Justin for understanding our appeal to the international Olympic structures regarding the inadmissibility of any concessions to a terrorist state. The Olympic movement and international sports in general must be protected from Russia's quite common attempts to politicize sports - we have seen this many times at different times. Now Russian politicization of sports will inevitably mean the justification of terror. This cannot be allowed," Zelenskyy said.

According to the president, only together the free world can protect sports from "those sports bureaucrats who for some reason are ready to close their eyes to reality."

Zelenskyi also shared the results of negotiations with the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander de Croo.

The head of Ukraine thanked for the powerful defense package that was approved recently.

"We discussed our cooperation at international platforms, in particular at the UN. We discussed sanctions against Russia and the next sanctions package. We also talked about cooperation in protecting sports and the Olympic movement from terrorist propaganda," Zelenskyi said.
