[Reporter Ge Youhao/Kaohsiung Report] Kaohsiung circular light rail Dashun Road is speeding up, and the target is to be completed and open to traffic by the end of the year.

The MRT Bureau announced today that starting from February 1, the 9 intersections on the Dashun section that originally had left-turn lanes will cooperate with the construction of the main light rail project, and successively prohibit left turns.

On January 13 this year, the construction of fences in areas A, B, and C of the Dashun section of the Kaohsiung Loop Light Rail Transit was completed, followed by reconstruction of box culverts, reconstruction of Longhua Bridge, and the main structure of the light rail.

The Gaoshi MRT Bureau pointed out that in order to cope with the crowds returning home before the Lunar New Year, left-turn control measures have been implemented at many intersections along the Dashun section, but 9 intersections are still allowed to turn left.

Starting from February 1 this year, seven intersections (Zhezi Road, Minzu Road, Longdexin Road, Zhuangjing Road, Jianxing Road, Jianguo Road, and Zhongzheng Road) with special left-turn lanes on the Dashun section will be used in conjunction with the main body of the light rail. Due to the construction progress of the project, the left-turn timing at each intersection has been closed one after another; the other two intersections at Jiangong Road and Juemin Road will be closed from February 6 to remind the public to pay attention.

The MRT Bureau further pointed out that after the implementation of left-turn control, traffic along Dashun Road can only go straight or turn right. It reminds the public to turn left in advance or delay the right-turn P-turn (P-turn). It is also recommended to make more use of nearby East-west alternative roads, including Mingcheng Road, Tongmeng Road, Jiangong Road, Shiquan Road, Jiuru Road, Wumiao Road, Xianzheng Road, Tie Daoyi Street; north-south alternative roads such as Boai Road, Freedom Road, Minzu Road, Dachang Road, Kaixuan 1st Road, Fude 2nd Road, diverted earlier.

At present, after the construction fence is erected on the Dashun section (Boai Road-Zhongzheng Road), the lanes have been reduced to two lanes or one fast and one slow. During peak hours, large trucks weighing more than 15 tons are prohibited from passing through, combined vehicles and gravel trucks are prohibited from passing through at all times, and the speed limit in the work area is 30 kilometers.
