Scientists have found out that the eerie spiral, which was recorded by a giant telescope in the sky above Hawaii earlier in January, was not caused by aliens, but by SpaceX.

The Sun writes about it.

It is noted that the lights observed on January 18 at the observatory on the highest mountain in Hawaii - Mauna Kea were man-made.

"The spiral appears to be related to the launch of a new satellite by SpaceX," Subaru Telescope employees said on Twitter.

The glow in the sky may have occurred during the launch of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle to bring the new GPS satellite into orbit, Forbes reports.

The spiral pattern probably appeared in the night sky when the rocket entered the second stage.

During this, the device rotates, discarding excess fuel.

It is noted that SpaceX is not the first to organize such an astronomical spectacle.

According to Tech Times,

various "light shows" occur when the company launches devices for the Starlink system

 - a series of satellites that can provide Internet access in 36 countries around the world.

Because these satellites are launched in batches of several dozen, they often form "trains" that travel across the night sky.

We will remind you that a new study by scientists from the SETI Institute shows that, most likely, extraterrestrial civilizations are waiting for the right moment to send their signals to Earth.
