Ayodhya:

Mahant Raju Das of Ayodhya's Hanumangarhi temple on Monday announced a reward of Rs 21 lakh to the person who beheaded senior Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya.

Significantly, Maurya had commented on Ramcharitmanas.

Raju Das said that the way the copies of Ramcharitmanas were burnt by All India OBC Mahasabha in Lucknow on Sunday, it is the work of Swami Prasad Maurya.

Swami Prasad Maurya, a prominent OBC leader from Uttar Pradesh, recently alleged that some verses of Shri Ramcharit Manas "insulted" a large section of the society on the basis of caste and demanded that these be "banned" .

Maurya was a cabinet minister in the previous BJP government in the state but had joined the SP just before the 2022 assembly elections.

He contested from the Fazilnagar assembly seat in Kushinagar district, but lost.

Later the SP sent him to the Legislative Council.

In support of SP national general secretary Swami Prasad Maurya, workers of the All India OBC Mahasabha on Sunday burnt copies of 'pages' of Shri Ramcharitmanas allegedly containing 'objectionable remarks on women and Dalits'.
