Croatian President Zoran Milanovic, known for his pro-Russian views, once again distinguished himself with a scandalous statement.
Milanovych said that Crimea "will never return to the control of Ukraine."
This is reported by RTS.
He compared the illegal annexation of Crimea with the declaration of independence of Kosovo.
"We annexed Kosovo. We and the international community. It was taken from Serbia. Who did it but us? We recognized Kosovo? It's not annexation, it's usurpation. What's it called? Withdrawal. The same goes for Crimea - Crimea will never be again Ukrainian. This is what the leading German generals say," the Croatian president noted.
He urged not to compare Serbia and Russia.
According to Milanovich, "Russia is a dangerous country" and "no one understands this."
"You compare the Serbs with the nuclear superpower of the world. Crazy emotions and hatred expose Europe to great danger," the Croatian leader said.
Milanovych also believes that "Ukrainians pathologically hate Russians", claiming that "Croats did not hate Serbs that much".
When journalists reminded him of the fallacy of his assessment of Ukraine, when he claimed that Russia would never attack Ukraine, the Croatian president disagreed.
"It was a bad decision by Russia, because they thought that the government (in Ukraine - Ed.) would fall. We are getting deeper and deeper into a conflict with a superpower. Do you know what will happen when they start losing the war? They
will use nuclear weapons
." , - said Milanovych and added that he is trying to open the eyes of others, because, as he believes, "we are entering a war with a superpower."
The position of Croatia in the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine
It should be noted that this is not the first anti-Ukrainian statement by the president of Croatia.
Earlier, he said that "Ukraine is not our ally" and added that Kyiv "received the status of a candidate for the EU unfairly."
On the eve of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in January 2022, Milanovych called for an agreement with Russia.
He also spoke against sending Croatian troops to Eastern Europe as part of NATO units.
In addition, the president of Croatia declared that
Ukraine has no place in NATO
and called the events of the Revolution of Dignity a "coup".
Unlike the scandalous president, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovich defends pro-Ukrainian positions.
In May 2022, following negotiations with Volodymyr Zelenskyi, he assured that
Croatia would continue to consistently support Ukraine.
