Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka have made laws so far

New Delhi:

The hearing in the Supreme Court has been postponed on the petitions challenging the laws made in nine states including Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh against the Love Jihad law.

Now the Supreme Court will hear the matter on February 3.

As soon as the hearing started, the Supreme Court said that the transfer petition on these petitions has not yet been listed, so it will hear all the petitions together on Friday.  

In this case, a petitioner said that this is a very serious situation when the replies of many states were not filed.

The states should come forward and file their reply soon.

Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has also demanded transfer of 21 petitions pending in various High Courts related to these laws to the Supreme Court for hearing.

On the pending petitions in several High Courts in the country on the issue of laws made by eight states against conversion, CJI DY Chandrachud said that we will hear the matter on Friday, only then will we consider issuing notices on transfer petitions. 

The petitioner said that the laws made by the states are coming in the way of personal law.

This is a very strange situation.

The people of two different religions who have married with mutual consent are being directly affected.

Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka have so far enacted laws against illegal conversion/love jihad using deprivation, pressure or influence.
