Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi/Jammu:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's "undesirable and unfair" attack on the government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The BJP said that Rahul Gandhi should accept that he could unfurl the national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar only because of the better atmosphere created by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that it is Modi's decisive leadership which abrogated Article 370, created an atmosphere of peace in the valley and now the tricolor is being hoisted on Independence Day and Republic Day.

BJP spokesperson and former Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said in a statement, "Rahul Gandhi is proudly hoisting the tricolor at Lal Chowk.

Prime Minister Modi and his government have created such an atmosphere in Kashmir that every Indian can proudly hoist the tricolor there.

Rahul Gandhi should thank Modi ji for hoisting the tricolor.

Taking a dig at the Congress's handling of terrorism in Kashmir, Prasad told reporters that what happened during the 10-year rule of Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi and the Congress rule in general, people know.

He said that with the return of peace in the valley, the number of tourists has increased manifold.

The former law minister said, "The really sad thing is that even after covering a distance of more than 3,000 kilometers in this so-called yatra, Gandhi's view about the RSS and the BJP is the same because he made baseless allegations."

This is not a 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', but a political campaign against the BJP government and PM Modi in particular."

He said that the most important point is that Gandhi needs to accept who created the best conditions for him to hoist the national flag in Srinagar.

Prasad said that Gandhi again made some baseless allegations.

Gandhi accused the RSS and the BJP of spreading division and hatred in the country and said her visit, which ends on Monday, was aimed at providing an alternative point of view.

Gandhi on Sunday unfurled the national flag amid tight security at the historic clock tower at Lal Chowk in Srinagar as part of his 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.

Prasad reminded the former Congress president that his father Rajiv Gandhi, grandmother Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru used to "abuse" the RSS, but it grew stronger with its allies while the opposition party lagged behind. Is.

Meanwhile, BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ravindra Raina said in Jammu that the hoisting of the national flag by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar goes to the credit of Prime Minister Modi, who abrogated Article 370, "has stabilized the situation in the Valley". "Normal" did.

Raina said, "Rahul Gandhi hoisted the tricolor at Lal Chowk and he could do so because of the policies of Prime Minister Modi, who gave a befitting reply to separatism and terrorism by abrogating Article 370 (in 2019) and strengthened nationalist forces." Paved the way for peace in the region.

He said that the Congress ruled the country for most of the last seven decades, but none of its leaders had dared to "hoist the tricolor" at Lal Chowk.

He said that Modi along with the then BJP president Murli Manohar Joshi had hoisted the national flag at the same place when militancy was at its peak in 1990.

The BJP leader said, "With the efforts of Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, today the atmosphere of peace has returned in Kashmir."

Gandhi has been able to hoist the tricolor by going to Lal Chowk, which no leader of his party could do in the last 70 years.

Referring to the recent statement of Rajni Patil, Congress in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, that Gandhi will not unfurl the tricolor at Lal Chowk as it is the agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Gandhi will unfurl the national flag at the party headquarters instead of Lal Chowk, Raina said, "Belatedly, Congress has started working on the nationalist agenda of the RSS... We want to tell Gandhi and his party leaders to learn from the RSS members who have There is a nationalist sentiment and they work for the country.
