The new US ambassador to Moscow, Lynn Tracy, today met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, the Associated Press reported, citing officials.

Tracy arrived in Moscow last week.

A statement from the US Embassy in Russia did not provide details of Tracy's conversation with Ryabkov.

The statement said only that Tracy began her tenure in Moscow focused on maintaining dialogue between "our capitals at a time of unprecedented tension."

Tracy will also be an advocate for the security and fair treatment of all American citizens detained in Russia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that during the conversation on some basic issues of bilateral cooperation, which has sharply deteriorated due to the fault of Washington, the Russian diplomat pointed out the counterproductiveness of the current confrontational course of the United States.

"Intrepid Lin" has arrived in Russia

"The Russian side expects the ambassador to strictly comply with the requirements of Russian laws, to observe norms and customs, to adhere to the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of the host country," said the statement of the Russian ministry.
