Senior advocate Neela Kedar Gokhale has now taken oath as a judge in the Bombay High Court.

Neela Gokhale is known for fighting the court battle for the rights and justice of the soldiers.

Born in Pune, Maharashtra and a law graduate, Neela Gokhale has fought and won numerous cases for military officers in her legal career.

In many of which the court gave decisions considered milestones.

Neela Gokhale, who has obtained PHD in law and jurisprudence, has two such PILs attached to her.

From which the Armed Forces got the power to expand and strengthen the scope of carrying out their responsibilities and rights efficiently.

Neela Gokhale, wife of an army officer, fought in the Supreme Court in 2013 for the voting rights of soldiers posted on remote borders.

After which a system was made that the soldiers protecting the country on the borders should also get the right to vote.

Also, a court order came on the second PIL through which the privileges and immunities of the Members of Parliament were codified.

Has represented the cases of many military officers including Lieutenant Colonel PK Chowdhary, Colonel Rajneesh Bhandari, Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Kumar and Colonel TYS Bedi.

In some cases, he also played a role in the decisions of promotion to higher posts in the army.

Apart from this, Neela Gokhale has also fought the case of Malegaon blast accused Colonel Prasad Purohit.

The Cricket Association and the BCCI have also taken a strong stand in the legal battle between the Central Gandhi Memorial Fund and the Gandhi Memorial Fund of Maharashtra.

Nila Kedar Gokhale has also been an advisor to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.

Neela Gokhale showed special interest for the rights and justice of almost every sector of the society, such as backward classes, women and especially military officers.

The Supreme Court Collegium recommended his name while approving the proposal to make him a judge of the Bombay High Court because of these qualities and his different attitude and approach towards law and jurisprudence.

The government also accepted this proposal of the collegium.

President Draupadi Murmu issued a warrant for his appointment.

Justice Neela Kedar Gokhale is going to start her new innings from the same Bombay High Court where she has also represented many important cases for years.
