MV Ganga Vilas started its journey from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on 13 January.

The MV Ganga Vilas vessel has stopped at Kolkata jetty and will leave for UNESCO heritage site Sunderbans on Monday.

An officer gave this information.

This vessel is considered to be the longest river cruise ship in the world.

The official said the cruise ship was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 13 and earlier this week it entered West Bengal via Murshidabad and later reached Kolkata.

The vessel is berthed at the Indenture Memorial (IM) jetty on the banks of the Hooghly River.

"The ship will leave Kolkata on Monday and then it will stop at Sundarbans, one of the largest mangrove forests in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site," the official said.

Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on Twitter, 'The next leg of the journey of MV Gangavilas will be on the India-Bangladesh protocol route, it will pass through Bangladesh to reach Assam.

For the smooth immigration process for the passengers, all the facilities have been done at IM jetty itself.

MV Ganga Vilas started its journey from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on January 13 and will reach Dibrugarh in Assam via Bangladesh after traveling about 3,200 km in 51 days.

It will pass through 27 river systems in India and neighboring countries.

Tourists on the maiden voyage of the cruise visited Kumartuli, the idol-making center in Kolkata on Saturday.

"A city tour was planned for the passengers so that they could experience the local culture," the official said.
