Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Malaysian Parliament Johari Abdul within the framework of her business trip to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to participate in the 17th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

According to the press and public relations department of the Milli Majlis, the chairman of the Milli Majlis expressed his satisfaction with the participation in the 17th conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Parliamentary Union and pointed out that such platforms are a great opportunity to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues.

Saying that this year we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, the chairman of the Milli Majlis said that the deepening of relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia during these years is a source of satisfaction.

Speaking about the cooperation of the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Malaysia within the framework of inter-parliamentary organizations, Sahiba Gafarova, as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, in accordance with the initiative to develop the parliamentary dimension of the movement, established the Parliamentary Network of the organization, its constituent meeting, the first conference held in Baku, the work currently being done for the institutional development of the organization , gave extensive information about the upcoming tasks.

Sahiba Gafarova, as the chairwoman of the Parliamentary Network, highly appreciated the participation of the Malaysian parliamentary delegation in the Baku conference of the National Committee of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan.

The chairman of the Milli Majlis also informed about the terrorist act committed against the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran on January 27 and noted that Azerbaijan demands an objective and comprehensive investigation of this attack.

Johari Abdul, the chairman of the House of Representatives of the Malaysian Parliament, who sincerely greeted the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between our countries and our parliaments, and expressed their interest in further developing relations.

Speaking about cooperation in international parliamentary organizations in particular, he said that Malaysia attaches great importance to relations with the Parliament of Azerbaijan, as well as to the Non-Aligned Movement and its Parliamentary Network.

During the conversation, it was noted that such meetings and negotiations confirmed the successful relations between our parliaments, and the importance of mutual visits for further expansion of cooperation was emphasized.
