Families in Troyan will receive 450 BGN one-time assistance upon the birth of a child.

Such a decision was taken by the municipal councilors at their last meeting, after the mayor of the Troyan municipality, Donka Mihailova, proposed that the current amount of aid of 300 BGN be increased by 50 percent.

The mayor presented his reasons a few days ago at a press conference.

"In the management program within the current mandate, we have planned in 2023 to propose such an increase.

We believe that in conditions of a demographic crisis, given our commitments to work to limit its causes and consequences, we are looking for various mechanisms to stimulate young people to return to Troyanska Municipality and give birth to their children here.

We are far from thinking that BGN 150 is a serious incentive, but we think that this increase is an illustration of the administrative will in this regard," said the mayor.

The new amount of the one-time aid comes into effect on January 1 of this year, and the conditions for granting it remain unchanged

.

The child, as well as at least one parent, must have a permanent and current address in the territory of Troyan municipality.

Other conditions are that the parents have not left the child to be raised in a specialized institution and that their parental rights have not been revoked;

the child is up to the third in the family;

the parents must be 18 years of age at the date of birth or adoption.

Mihailova recalled that from January 1, 2015, the Municipality of Troyan grants a one-time financial aid in the amount of BGN 200 for a newborn and/or adopted child, the amount being provided by the municipality's budget.

For 2015, the same was distributed in a ratio of 50:50 between the municipal budget and the company "Kalinel" EOOD.

In 2019, the BGN aid was increased to BGN 300, BTA reported.

Over the years, 811 families have been supported with a total value of BGN 203,200.
