Congress targeted the government's China policy

New Delhi:

India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar recently attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the issue of China.

Now in response to this too, the Congress has retaliated.

Congress veteran and senior leader Jairam Ramesh issued a statement targeting the central government regarding the China issue.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has said that Modi government is adopting 'DDLJ' policy on China issue.

Which means Deny, Distract, Lie, Justify.

According to the Congress leader, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar's remarks were only an attempt to divert attention from the government's "failed China policy".

On Saturday, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had said that the land that opposition leaders are talking about as China's occupation was "actually occupied in 1962", when Jawaharlal Nehru was the prime minister.

Along with this, the Foreign Minister said that sometimes "they (opposition)" spread such news which is false.

The External Affairs Minister was reacting to Rahul Gandhi citing a report of a senior police officer.

In which it has been mentioned that India lost its control over 26 out of 65 patrolling points in East Ladakh.

Jairam Ramesh said,"There is no comparison between the 1962 war and what happened in Ladakh in May, 2020. In 1962 India fought with China to defend its territory and in 2020 India denied Accepted Chinese aggression, which was followed by 'disengagement', in which India lost its access to thousands of square kilometers.

The Congress leader has also referred to the statement of the External Affairs Minister on the meeting between the Chinese Ambassador and Rahul Gandhi in 2017.

He said, the same Chinese ambassador to the US had met opposition Republican leaders during the Obama administration.

Are opposition leaders not entitled to meet diplomats from countries important in terms of trade, investment and security? He said the government "should have been truthful from the beginning and taken the opposition into confidence".

Parliamentary Standing Committees should discuss the China crisis, debate in Parliament, or at least talk with leaders of major political parties.
