Mexican sports authorities reported that the Cañeros de Los Mochis will have only 10 players from their original regular season roster, adding 18 reinforcements to represent the Mexican Pacific League in the Caribbean Series that starts this Thursday in Venezuela.

After winning the fourth title in its history in the LMP on Saturday night, by defeating Algodoneros de Guasave in the sixth game of the Final Series, the Cañeros board of directors and Christian Veliz, sports director of the league, finished putting together the roster on Sunday and made it known through a press release.

Los Cañeros –who will debut on Thursday at the La Rinconada Stadium in Caracas against the Tigres de Licey (Dominican Republic)– will have 15 pitchers, 2 catchers, 7 infielders and 4 outfielders on their roster.

Of his original regular-role team, he was left with only six pitchers, one catcher, two infielders and one outfielder.

Luis Fernando Miranda (Pitcher of the Year), Darel Torres, Fabián Cota, Miguel Vázquez, Irving Machuca and Juan Gámez were among the pitchers for Cañeros and Rafael Córdova, Matt Pobereyko, Jeff Kinley and Brandon Koch were added from the runners-up Algodoneros de Guasave .

The list of pitchers is completed by César Vargas and Luis Márquez, from the Naranjeros de Hermosillo;

Braulio Torres-Pérez, from the Venados de Mazatlán;

Samuel Zazueta, from the Yaquis of Ciudad Obregón and Jake Sánchez, from the Águilas de Mexicali.

The catcher will be covered by Juan Uriarte (Most Valuable Player of the Final Series) and the reinforcement of Algodoneros, José Félix.

Cuban Yasmany Tomás (Most Valuable Player in the regular season) and Rodolfo Amador will continue the trip with Cañeros as infielders, as will their reinforcement from the semifinals Roberto Valenzuela, from Sultanes de Monterrey, and added Joey Terdoslavich and Orlando Piña , from Algodoneros and Irving López and Jasson Atondo, from Naranjeros.

Justin Dean remained as the only original player in the outfield, along with reinforcement from the first playoff Fernando Villegas, Charros de Jalisco's Rookie of the Year, and Julián Ornelas, Charros de Jalisco, reinforcement of Algodoneros in the postseason, and José Cardona, from orange trees

Los Cañeros will play their third Caribbean Series in their history and first since their last appearance in 2003

It will be his first visit to Venezuela, after playing the previous two in Puerto Rico, in San Juan and Carolina.

His record in the Caribbean Classic is 4-8, after going 4-2 in 1984 and 0-6 in 2003–this last year in a roster of 25 he brought 14 players from his original roster and added 11 reinforcements.

The 2023 Caribbean Series – 65th edition in history – will be played from February 2 to 10 in Caracas, Venezuela at the La Rinconada and Fórum La Guaira stadiums, and Mexico is looking for its tenth title, but first since 2016.
