New Delhi :

Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government has sent a proposal to LG Vinay Kumar Saxena urging him to convene the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House on February 3, 4 or 6 for the election of the mayor.

The MCD sent a proposal to the Delhi government on February 10, in response to this, the Delhi government has sent a proposal to the LG to call a meeting of the MCD to hold the mayoral elections on February 3, 4 and 6.

Significantly, due to the uproar, the House of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi had to be adjourned for an indefinite period last week, due to which the election of the Mayor could not be held.

Earlier, on January 7 also, the mayor's election had to be postponed due to a fierce clash between BJP and AAP councilors and tremendous uproar.

Significantly, in the elections held in 250 wards of MCD, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had won 134 wards.

On the other hand, BJP has won 104 wards in this election.

The Aam Aadmi Party has nominated Shelly Oberoi as its candidate for the post of mayor, while the BJP has declared senior party leader and Shalimar Bagh ward councilor Rekha Gupta as its mayor candidate from Delhi.

During the meeting of the House on January 7, there was an uproar over the decision of the presiding officer Satya Sharma.

There was a tussle between the BJP and the AAP to administer the first oath to the 10 nominated councillors.

Actually, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has nominated 10 councilors in MCD.

Nominated councilors are also called aldermen.

They are experts in their field.

When the presiding officer Satya Sharma first announced the oath taking of the nominated councillors, Aam Aadmi Party councilor Mukesh Goyal objected.

Goyal had said that first of all the elected should be sworn in, not the nominated.

After this the elections had to be postponed due to continuous uproar.
