Former New York City teacher Michael Josephs, who used to make less than $40,000 a year (below the U.S. median salary. - Ed.), is now making six figures at his new job as a dog walker.

A seemingly modest job allowed the 34-year-old former Brooklyn resident to buy his own house in Middletown, New Jersey, where he now lives, and a new car.

He also earned the funds to take his family to Walt Disney World Resort and put $10,000 toward a college fund for his 18-month-old.

At the beginning of 2019, the man started walking dogs to make extra money.

At the same time, Josephs worked as a special needs teacher in a private school.

After the man realized that walking dogs was making him more money than teaching, he quit his job and opened his own business in July 2019 called Parkside Pups.

The former New York teacher had dozens of clients who paid Josephs about $20 for a 30-minute ride.

According to the New York Post, last year the man managed to earn about 120 thousand dollars.

The aspiring entrepreneur said that his business faced problems in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, business quickly recovered as New Yorkers returned to normal life.

Josephs also said he plans to expand his business by creating a mobile app and hiring more employees.

He now has five full-time employees, as well as various independent contractors who service dozens of dogs. 

Wealthy clients regularly offer him their estates for vacation.

Michael admits that he misses working with his students, but loves the freedom of being outside with his four-legged pets.
