"Light Source Taipei-2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taipei" will be held from February 5th to February 19th.

[Reporter Cai Sipei/Taipei Report] "Light Source Taipei-2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taipei" will be held from February 5th to February 19th. The Taipei City Bureau of Education also launched a national lantern competition, offering the highest total prize money of 3 million yuan in history. All walks of life are encouraged to participate, and the competition lanterns will be displayed on Xinrenai Road and the sidewalks around the city hall.

"Light Source Taipei - 2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taipei" plans four major exhibition areas: the central exhibition area, the light exhibition area, the source exhibition area and the future exhibition area.

The competition lantern area located on Xinrenai Road and the sidewalks around the municipal government will exhibit about 200 traditional art lantern works created by teachers, students, parents and the public from schools and government organizations at all levels across the country.

On January 30 and January 31, from 9:00 am to 16:00 pm, the Bureau of Education will handle the acceptance of lanterns for the competition. Participants can deliver the lanterns to Xinrenai Road or the sidewalk of the west gate of the city hall, where they can assemble and arrange the exhibition by themselves.

The judges composed of scholars and experts will score the overall effect, shape, color, creativity, lighting and skills of the lanterns on February 1 and 2, and the award-winning works will be announced before February 4. There will be five groups of lantern kings.

The National Lantern Competition has 5 groups: Parent-Child Group, Junior High School Group, High School Vocational Group, College Social Group, and Organization Group. The total prize money is the highest ever of 3 million yuan.

This competition focuses on the year of the rabbit, the light of Taiwan, the light of Taipei, diversity and integration, the source of innovation, trendy technology, and livable cities. Prizes ranging from RMB 30,000 to RMB 5,000 will be awarded to the winners of "First Class" and "Excellent Works", and a lamp king will be selected from the top-quality works of each group to be awarded the highest ever bonus of RMB 80,000.
