German Chancellor

Olaf Scholz

said that the question of the possible provision of Western fighter jets to the Ukrainian Armed Forces does not yet arise.

The chancellor said this in an interview with Tagesspiegel.

According to the politician, his attitude to the supply of combat aircraft to Ukraine has not changed.

Commenting on the appeals of Ukrainian Ambassador Andriy Melnyk regarding the provision of fighter jets, Scholz warned against "entering into a constant competition for raising rates when it comes to weapons systems."

"If another debate starts immediately after the decision in Germany (supply of Leopard tanks - Ed.), it does not look too serious and undermines citizens' trust in the government's decisions," he emphasized

Scholz emphasized, they say, his task "to do everything so that Russia's war against Ukraine does not turn into a war between Russia and NATO."

"The Chancellor of Germany, who takes his oath seriously, must do everything to ensure that Russia's war against Ukraine does not turn into a war between Russia and NATO," the Chancellor noted.

We will remind that Scholz, after handing over the Leopard to Ukraine

, ruled out the possible supply of combat aircraft to Kyiv.

The German chancellor also expressed his opposition to the possible introduction of an unmanned zone over Ukraine.

After long discussions, on January 25,

Germany officially agreed to hand over Leopard 2 tanks of

its own production.

We are talking about a company - 14 tanks.

They will be transferred from the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Bundeswehr.
