Meanwhile, the Tripura unit of the BJP has finalized seat-sharing with old ally Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) for the elections to be held on February 16.
This time BJP has given five seats to its ally, which is four less than what it got in the 2018 elections.
Announcing the alliance, Chief Minister Manik Saha said at a press conference in Agartala that BJP will contest on 55 seats.
Present at the press conference, senior IPFT leader Shukla Charan Noatia said that the party will contest on five seats in alliance with the BJP.
He said that party president Prem Kumar Reang has approved the seat-sharing decision.
Chief Minister Saha will contest from Bardovali (city), the seat he won in the bypolls held last year.
Earlier in the day, in New Delhi, the BJP released the first list of 48 candidates for the Tripura Assembly elections, fielding 11 women, including Union minister Pratima Bhowmik.
A few hours after this list, the BJP announced the names of six more candidates, with which the party has announced 54 candidates.
The list was announced on Saturday, while only two days are left for filing nominations.
According to the BJP list, Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik has been fielded from Dhanpur seat.
BJP leaders Anil Baluni and Sambit Patra announced the BJP candidates for the Tripura Assembly elections at a press conference held at the party headquarters in Delhi on Saturday.
Bhowmik is a Union minister in the BJP-led government at the Centre.
He is an MP from Tripura.
In the last assembly elections of the year 2018, the BJP formed the government in Tripura, which is considered to be a stronghold of the Left.
Prior to that, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) had ruled Tripura for 25 years.
This time the CPI (M) is contesting the state elections in alliance with the Congress.
