[Reporter Lu Yixuan/Taipei Report] Kinmen County Mayor Chen Fuhai and county legislator Chen Yuzhen said when they returned to Kinmen from Xiamen, China today that the problem of Kinmen sorghum liquor being "blocked" in China has been resolved.

In addition, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council stated today that 63 Taiwanese companies, including Jinmen Distillery, have been registered or renewed.

This means that China has released the import of the above-mentioned products.

The MAC expressed its positive view on this today, and hopes that China will stop creating non-tariff trade obstacles in the name of food safety supervision.

China began to block imports of Taiwanese grouper, white hairtail, and jack mackerel successively in June last year. Later, it pointed out that many Taiwanese food factories and aquatic product processing factories had not completed the renewal of registration, and suspended the import of related products.

Kinmen County Mayor Chen Fuhai went to Xiamen, China today (29th) to meet with Song Tao, the newly appointed director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, to discuss the banning of gin.

After the meeting, Song Tao said that the General Administration of Customs of China had officially approved the registration code of gin, officially lifting the ban and releasing it.

Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, then announced through a press release that after review by relevant competent authorities, 63 enterprises that meet the requirements, including Kinmen Distillery, have been registered or renewed.

That is to say, the import of the above products is opened.

Ma Xiaoguang's press release specifically mentioned that after Taiwanese food companies were unable to enter China due to registration issues, they conveyed their appeals to the other side through relevant people and business groups such as former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, Hong Xiuzhu, chairman of the New Party, and Chen Fuhai, the county magistrate of Kinmen, hoping to obtain registration as soon as possible. .

The MAC said today that in December last year, China suspended the import of Kinmen sorghum and other products on the grounds of incomplete food safety registration information. We have subsequently applied for registration with the General Administration of Customs of China in accordance with the new regulations on food products in China and followed WTO regulations. And bilateral agreement channels, requiring China to remove non-tariff trade barriers as soon as possible to protect the due rights and interests of Taiwanese companies.

The MAC emphasized that this time the General Administration of Customs of China approved the registration code of Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor and resumed the import of gin, and the MAC viewed it positively.

It is hoped that China will stop creating non-tariff trade obstacles in the name of food safety supervision and restore the normal order of cross-strait economic and trade transactions.
