Earthquake tremors in Iran

Earthquake tremors were felt in north-west Iran.

Iranian media reported that a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck northwestern Iran near the Turkish border on Saturday, killing at least two people and injuring dozens.

"So far 122 people have been injured in the lost city and unfortunately two people have died," Mojtaba Khaledi, a spokesman for emergency services, told state television,

Reuters reported .

Iranian emergency officials said rescue teams were sent to the area in Iran's West Azerbaijan province and hospitals have been put on alert, according to state media.

An emergency official told state TV that it was snowing in some affected areas, with power outages reported in some places.
