(Central News Agency) Russian troops shelled the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson today, killing three people, wounding six and damaging a hospital and a school, the government of Ukraine's Kherson region said.

The Ukrainian government of the Kheson region issued a statement on the communication software Telegram stating: "Russian shelling today caused 9 casualties, 3 people were killed (2 men and 1 woman), and 6 people were injured."

An earlier statement from the Hesson state government also read: "As a result of enemy shelling, many civilian infrastructures have been destroyed, including the Hesson Regional Clinical Hospital, a school, a bus station, a post office, a bank, and houses. "

The city of Kheson has been occupied by Russian troops since the early days of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, and it was not until November last year that Ukrainian forces recaptured the city.

But after Ukraine recaptured Khson, the city came under regular shelling from Russian positions across the Dnipro River.
