Ever since Elon Musk became the new owner of Twitter, the company has been going through a major change.

Meanwhile, the company said on Friday that Twitter users will be able to appeal and evaluate account suspensions under the new criteria for reinstatement of the social media platform starting February 1.

Under the new norms, Twitter accounts will only be suspended for serious or repeated violations of platform policies.

Serious policy violations include engaging in illegal content or activity, inciting or threatening violence or harm, and targeted harassment of other users, according to a Reuters report

Twitter said that going forward, it will take less severe action than account suspension.

Such as limiting their access to Tweets that violate its policies or asking users to delete Tweets before continuing to use the account.

In December, Musk's company suspended the accounts of several journalists over the controversy over publishing public data related to the billionaire.

However, later he reinstated the accounts.
