The information regarding Ukraine's acquisition of 24 fighter jets from its partners needed explanation and clarification because it was incorrectly translated in an interview by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, to a Spanish journalist.

Yuriy Ignat told about this during the Ukrainian telethon.

Currently, information about the transfer of 24 planes to Ukraine is spreading in our information space... Yesterday we spoke with a Spanish journalist with a translator.

Here are the classic difficulties of translation.

I spoke in Ukrainian, the translation was in English for the Spanish journalist, and he published the material.

It turned out that I stated as if "Ukraine wants to receive 24 F-16 fighters."

There were no statements, and such things have a very negative effect.

The information is very sensitive and partners don't like it," Ignat said

The spokesman also provided an explanation of the situation and stated that it is about Ukraine's decision to switch to Western technology.

As for the specific number of planes, Ignat denied it.

"It is clear that we will not be given a brigade or several at once. We will be talking about supply by certain units, initially as is done with other types of weapons. The same process will also take place in stages. Therefore, at first we may be talking about two squadrons, and one is 12 aircraft ", the spokesman said.

We will remind, earlier the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, informed that Ukraine wants to get  F-16

fighter jets

because they are multifunctional.

He explained that F-16 fighters are capable of striking ground targets with various types of weapons, and can also become part of air defense to protect the sky over Ukraine.
